The past week we have been working on some outdoor projects in front of the house that will hopefully increase curb appeal when it's time to sell. For Mother's Day, I wanted a screen door. This sounds dumb but I really wanted this screen door. Don't worry, we didn't pay that much - it was WAY cheaper at Lowes. (And don't feel too bad for me about getting a screen door for Mother's Day, I also went to the Double Reed shop when we were in Berkeley.) For the record -the screen door has nothing to do with curb appeal. When we do move, it is coming with us.
Austin tried to help install it.

And then there's our front yard. I can't believe I'm even posting a picture of this, but this is our front yard. I don't know what happened to the grass. We have pretty much been the eye sore of our court for the past 3 years that we've lived here. We have tried different fertilizers and grass seeds to no avail.

This is our last attempt to grow grass. If it doesn't work this time around, we're putting in rocks. Austin was thrilled to use the rototiller.

I have been working on occasion at a local worm farm. While this sounds gross, it does have it's perks. Free worm-filled dirt for our front yard. And free use of the rototiller.

So now we have torn up the front yard, mixed in some healthy worm-filled soil and sprinkled grass seed. If anyone has seen the infomercial where the guy swears that you can plant grass seed on the concrete and it will grow - that is the stuff we bought. It better work!
