Chihuahua Races

The first month we moved here in 2006, we heard on the radio about Chihuahua races in Reno. We went and watched and the next 2 years we missed them for various reasons. This year, we were here and we decided to enter Sunny in the Races. The Chihuahua Races are held at Bully's Sports Bar and the races are inside the restaurant. The dogs are inside, sitting on tables in the restaurant where people are eating. I can't believe the health department hasn't shut this down, but until then, we will keep going!

This chihuahua was dressed in a princess costume.
There were other chihuahuas there who had their nails painted pink.

The 2 dogs below, their owner just set them up on the table and left for awhile.
The dogs never moved from the table.

Here is Sunny enjoying himself on our table while we waited for our burgers.

Don wo't let me get one of these bags for my Chi.

The dogs raced side-by-side on 2 30 foot tracks that were 4 feet high.
Some dogs were super fast. Others had no idea what was going.
Sunny was somewhere in the middle.
One of the faster dogs in Sunny's heat was One-Eye Peanut. And yes, he only had one eye.

As it turns out, Sunny is not the fastest dog in Northern Nevada, but we all had a good time.
