April 25 & 26 were my first concerts performing with the Carson City Symphony. There aren't any photos or video available (yet) but it did go well. Not as good of a turnout for our Fallon concert, but it was nice to drive 1 minute (literally, 1 minute) to the concert as opposed to my usual 75 minute drive.
We did make the front page of the Carson paper - no mention in the LVN here in Fallon. Not a big surprise...
Here's a link if you're interested. We performed a premiere of a piece commissioned for our groups 25th anniversary by Dr. Steven Rosenhaus from NYU. He came and conducted. And promised me next time he'd write more interesting parts for the 2nd oboe. I wish I had a recording of this piece to share as there is an amazing clarinet solo at the end.

All in all, I am having a good time playing in the group. It's beginning to open doors to other playing opportunities, but I'm not sure I'm willing to make that drive more than once a week.
Next month we are performing at the Governor's Mansion. Gotta love an outdoor concert with a wood oboe.....
