I have this love/hate relationship with my sewing machine. Actually, more hate than love. Ok, really, it's all hate. 100% Don't get me wrong, I'd really like to know how to sew well. I have a bunch of friends who make tons of great stuff and I feel jealous. I just can't seem to use the sewing machine without getting in a fight with it. Part of this is probably because the needle comes unthreaded every other time I stitch something.
On the other hand, I am completely comfortable with my serger (except that threading it is a pain in the #&$%).
When Austin was 1, I had these great intentions of making him some pajamas. I went out and bought all this different flannel material that would make super cute jammies. I even started cutting one. And then I came to my senses and put it all aside. Then we moved and that was that. All that flannel has been hanging around, and I noticed this weekend that Austin has really been growing and some of his pajama bottoms are really too short. So today I took the plunge. I have never attempted to make anything other than curtains or baby blankets or burp cloths before, so this was no easy task for me. However, I am pleased to report that really, it was an easy task. Way easier than I expected. And maybe I've grown more patient because I didn't even get in any fights with the sewing machine (even when it came unthreaded for the 15th time.) So here they are in all their glory. Austin was excited. Now he wants to know when I'm going to make the shirt. Not sure I'm that brave yet. Baby steps...

Just buy the packages of white t-shirts, that's what we do for Paden! Hate, double hate, sewing too. I always thought that someday I would make beautiful dresses for my girls than reality hit, now I just shop for good deals and rationalize not sewing because it is cheaper to buy them! Loved your blog -- especially about the coupons! We're signed up for Red Box, but we only get occasional e-mails. Do you get one every week?
First time I came on here I just skimmed and I could have sworn that you bought those from the store. I think they look really good.
Congrats! I fought with my sewing machine so much I gave it away. Not to mention Jared had a better relationship with it and I was somewhat jealous. But now I miss having the machine around. Wish I could sew. Your PJ pants look great. Good job!
Jen, I know what you mean. Don has always been more comfortable in front of the sewing machine than me. They must have learned it in scouts.
