Resolutions and taking time for ME

My friend Melanie started a blog called Finding Joy in the Journey of Motherhood. This past week she wrote a post about how we as mom's don't often remember to take time out for ourselves - we spend so much time giving and serving our families that we often neglect ourselves and doing things that bring us joy. This past week she challenged her readers to find something everyday to do for ourselves.

This past week Don was in Utah all week, so I decided to do some major scrapbooking. I am so far behind in scrapbooking but I hate always having to get all of the supplies out. Since Don was gone, I set up a table in the livingroom and just left everything out all week and I got a TON of stuff done. (I am halfway through Austin's 2nd year now!)

When I decided on my New Year's Resolutions this year, I decided to make scrapbooking one of them. But instead of saying I'll get caught up on scrapbooking, I decided to be more realistic with my resolutions this year. So my resolution was to scrap through Austin's 2nd birthday. I am currently working on Xmas '05, so making it through April to his 2nd birthday is definitely doable after my weeklong scrapfest! (To be fair, other seemingly realistic resolutions I made are NOT going well. It seemed more realistic to me to make a goal to practice my oboe 3x a week or 3 hours a week - instead of saying I would practice daily. As it turns out, I haven't played my oboe since I came home from Oregon in mid-December...)

I scrapped Austin's 1st Birthday last month, as well as all of the other Wymac babies. I took pictures of my layouts for the other Wymac mommies so we could reminisce on where we were 4 years ago. So Liz, Mel, Mandy and Annie - these pictures are for you gals! We miss you guys! Sorry the pictures aren't super clear - and just a disclaimer - I do not do super fancy layouts so don't judge! I've decided that the simpler I make them, the quicker I'm going to be able to catch up!

Hey Amy! Great scrapbooking. Sorry I've taken so long to reply. I just the chance to look at everything. I'm so glad you were inspired to do something for yourself...and you even have a lot to show for it! Now i've got to get back to trying to post more blog things...when I'm overwhelmed w/ stuff and that's usually the first thing to go. Thanks for sharing those great pages. What fun memories...Wish you still lived close.

wow, Amy. I love them. It is a lot of work and it's a great idea to get the pictures together! Because of our new photo biz, we have a pro photo lab partner who we use for pictures and books. I will share one when we meet again. Miss you guys.
