Trip to Oregon

In July (I think?) we drove up to Southern Oregon to have a guy fix my oboe. We spent a long weekend camping on Lake Selmac, outside of Grants Pass. The campground we stayed at had free hot showers and free 24 hour mini golf. We were right across the road from the lake. There were signs posted saying to stay out of the lake due to harmful algae (or, harmful allergies, as Austin called it) but after talking with a Parks n Rec guy, he told us what areas of the lake were safe to swim in. My only complaint was about how close the campsites were. We had neighbors less than 10 feet from us on both sides. And one of the neighbors was very fond of the F word. Luckily for us, we got there Saturday night, and everyone else packed up and went home Sunday morning. So for the next 3 days, we basically had the whole place to ourselves.

The day before we left, I got a new camera with a fantastic zoom. I still haven't learned how to use all the functions on it, but we got to play around with the zoom a bit at the lake. In the picture above, you can just barely see the little dot that is Austin's head way out on the lake on the left side. The picture below is from the exact same position, using the zoom. Love it!

This was Bolt's first opportunity to play in water. He didn't really like it. He did want the ball though, so he would wade out a little ways to retrieve the ball, as long as his feet were still touching the bottom.

We did make him try swimming.

This is how Sunny and I spend our time camping.

We went to another side of the lake at dusk and we actually spied a pair of otters. We weren't quick enough to get any pictures though.

Our last morning there, we wanted to feed the geese, but they were too far out. The fish enjoyed our bread though.

On the way home we stopped at one of the rest areas near Mt. Shasta and snapped a picture. Austin asked if we could just sit there and watch the volcano until it exploded.
I should mention that we went tent camping this time, instead of in our trailer. We weren't sure our truck would make it that far, plus we left when Don got off work Saturday at 6am, so I was driving and wouldn't have driven with the trailer anyway. We haven't tent camped in a few years. I don't believe we will ever tent camp with 3 dogs ever again. Having the trailer is nice so that we can lock them up if we want to explore without them.
After being in the car for almost 10 hours that day (stopping to pick up my oboe, stopping for lunch, stopping to let dogs pee), Austin fell asleep when we were about 10 minutes away from our house. That always happens.
