Last Day of Summer Vacay

I recently read in Family Fun magazine about a mom who spent the last day of summer visiting several different parks in her town. (I'm sure her town probably had much more exciting parks to offer than what we have here, maybe even one with a water feature.) However, since I had the day off work, it sounded like a fun idea.

So yesterday was "Austin Day." He has been going to school 3 days a week all summer, so he deserved a day of fun. (Of course, we also had a family day of fun this past weekend at Wild Island, the water slide park where Amazon had their company picnic. The benefits of Amazon just keep getting better and better!)

First we went to Oats Park, or what we call The Nasty Park.
In it's defense, they have tried to clean it up a bit and just built brand new play structures.

Then we headed over to Laura Mills Park:

Austin thought maybe he could catch this seagull.

This bird definitely looks like he's up to something.

Next was Venturacci Park, which has no shade.

After a stop at home for lunch, we went to the pool.

After the pool we went to Harmon Junction for 39 cent ice cream cones.

After Don left for work, we had a movie and game night, and then packed his backpack with all his new school supplies, packed lunch and picked out his new clothes for the first day of school

1st grade, he we come!
