Las Vegas Trip

Last weekend we went to Vegas for 4 days. Don had a Home Inspector seminar so we decided to make it a family affair. We have been wanting to go to Vegas while we're so close (and by close, I do mean a 6 hour drive.) The drive was probably the worst we've ever done. Yes, this is worse than driving down I-5 through central California and worse than driving east across Nevada into Utah. The entire way from Fallon to Vegas is down a 2 lane highway and there is nothing - NOTHING out there. Just dirt and uglyness. There are several abandoned towns that the highway passes through (meaning you have to slow down to 25 - thus making the trip take even longer...) For some reason the very few people that do live in these towns try to make their living selling rocks. We passed several rock stands. I do not understand. If anyone knows why people down there sell rocks, please enlighten me. Valerie? Gina? Anyone?

Austin and I were able to visit with our friends, The Brummetts. Carter turned his head right as I snapped this picture. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the Demarcos this time around. All of Austin's friends have been moving away, and 2 of them are in Vegas.

We also got to meet up with the Tiffanys. Stacy and I are friends through an online group that was started when a bunch of us all over the country were all pregnant with our first child, due in April 2004. About 25 or so of us have remained friends though this group and Stacy and I were able to meet in person for the first time. Very cool gal.

Austin and Bryce were born on the same day. They really hit it off.
Here they are being goofballs.

Austin with Bryce's little sister, Kendall.

And this is why you shouldn't count on 4 year olds to take your pictures!

One of Austin's favorite things was the MGM Grand. For those who haven't been to Vegas, they have live lions inside. I took him on Tuesday and it was all he talked about for the rest of the trip. All he wanted to do was take his dad to see the lions. He cried and cried when we didn't take dad Tuesday night. (It was 11:30pm after all...) So before heading home on Wednesday, we stopped at the "lion hotel" and caught them during feeding time.

Here's Ms. Liberty outside the New York, New York.

And we visited M&M World. 4 stories of M&M goodness. No free samples though.

Can you believe they wanted $11.99/lb for M&Ms??
No thanks, I'll just get them at Walmart.

Austin LOVES Nascar and the M&M car is his favorite, so imagine
his delight when he came face to face with a real M&M car!

This is the closest we'll ever be to the Eeiffel Tower.

Our last stop before heading home was the Las Vegas Temple.

This trip was way to short for us to do all the things we wanted to do and see everyone we wanted to see. (I have 2 other friends I wasn't able to see this time.) We will have to go back soon. Don had a great time at his seminar and is eager to get started inspecting homes.
