Our local VFW put on an Easter egg hunt for the kids, using real hard-boiled eggs. The whole thing lasts less than 5 minutes but the kids really had fun. I was really sad because there was a little boy standing next to us waiting for the hunt to begin and he was with his mom and grandma, who was in a wheelchair. He was probably barely turned 2 years old. When the VFW dude shouted "Go", this poor little boy had no idea what was going on. He wasn't old enough to understand that he was supposed to run out onto the lawn and gather eggs. His mom started screaming at him because he was just standing there. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING! GO GET SOME EGGS!" And not in a nice way. She was really upset with him. The grandma told her to take him out there and help him get some eggs because a lot of other parents were helping their little ones. She told grandma no, that it was his own fault that he was going to miss out. If he wasn't going to go get some they could just go home without. I felt so bad for this little boy. I saw this same family at the park earlier last week and any time he tried to play, head toward the slides, look at another kid, she was yelling at him. That's one thing about living in a small town. You run into the same people over and over. I have a feeling we will be seeing them at the park a lot more. Nevertheless, Austin had a great time gathering eggs and came home with 10.
