We have spent the past few weeks trying to finish up Austin's Tiger before we have the February Pack meeting. He will be earning the Tiger Cub badge at the Blue and Gold dinner in a few weeks. Since he is the only Tiger Cub, most things we do as a family, instead of with a Den. Hopefully next year, he will have a den to do things with. One of the things he had to do was visit the Fire Station. A friend of ours gave us the grand tour of the volunteer fire station here in town. I must say, it was weird that there was nobody there. Since it's a volunteer department, the guys all have regular jobs and just leave with they get a call. They have a 4 1/2 minute response time - which means from the time the guys get the call, the first truck rolls out of the station 4 1/2 minutes later. Pretty impressive considering there's no one at the station when calls come in.

We also had to go on a hike. This past weekend we went to Grimes Point, which is just outside of town. There's all these rocks with petroglyphs left by Native Americans thousands of years ago.

After viewing all the rocks, we decided to hike up a hill. This is the view from the top of the hill - the vast nothingness of Nevada.
