School pix

1st grade is going much better than I mentioned in a previous post. It took some pushing on our part, but Austin is now receiving more challenging work. He goes to a 2nd grade reading class daily and he receives his own list of extra spelling words in addition to the ones given to his class.

In October Austin was presented with a certificate from his school for the character trait Responsibility. There is a new student in his class (who was actually one of my K students who was supposed to be in 1st grade - long story - but he's finally in 1st now...) Austin took him under his wing and showed him the ropes of 1st grade and the new school and classroom and all. His teacher said he has shown Citizenship by helping with the new student. He also informed me that he was trying to teach him the "right words to say." I asked what this meant and he said the boy was using potty words and he told him those were "inappropriate things to say at school."
Austin - we are so proud of you for how well you are doing in school and for the example that you are to your friends!
