Update: Sept

I haven't taken any pictures lately - which is why I haven't updated our blog. I have this brand new fancy camera and I have not had time to play with it at all since school has started back fulltime.

Here's a brief update on what's going on with us:

- So far, 1st grade is a joke. And that's no joke. I really believe that we went against our better judgement when we decided to go ahead and try the public schools here. Austin is bored out of his mind. I might as well be homeschooling since I make him do math and reading assignments for me everyday after school. At school, he is currently working on things that he learned in preschool and he told his teacher so. She didn't care. The work I'm giving my Kindergarteners is more advanced than what he's bringing home. That's really all I have to say about it.

- Don is heading into peak season at Amazon. It's hard to believe it's time to start thinking about Christmas already - but I did see some Christmas items on display at CVS this afternoon. As for my job, while I miss my 4 day weekends, I really do prefer to be off at 2pm everyday instead of 6pm. Our enrollment numbers keep increasing which is great since 2 months ago things were looking grim. I am thankful to have a paying job in this economy.

- Last week I had my wisdom teeth out. I've been waiting 6 years for dental insurance to have this procedure done. I elected to be put to sleep. Let me just say that laughing gas isn't really all that funny. I'm glad I only dealt with that for about 5 minutes before being knocked out. Procedure went well, although anethesia makes me sick. Recovery was even better than expected (except for the part where I couldn't eat real food for a week - that part sucked.)

- Last night we signed up for Cub Scouts. Austin has been looking forward to doing scouts for a while now since he has been able to hang out with Dad during scout activities over the years. Since the troop through our church does not let the boys join until they are 8, we decided to let Austin join a local troop that starts in 1st grade. He is very excited. Karate starts back up on Monday. Austin will be a Lima (level 5). Between karate and cub scouts, he will be busy.

- That's all for now. We'll soon be posting pics of Austin's first Cub Scout activity, the Cubanapolis 500. He gets to make a racecar out of a box and race with it. Right up his alley.
