Austin really wanted to have a birthday party for Luke. We had these apple muffins lying around, made with whole-wheat flour (an attempt at making them healthier that didn't go over real well) so there was our idea for his birthday cake. We also still have these Mater hats lying around from one of Austin's birthday parties a few years ago.
Ways our lives haved changed by bringing a BIG DOG into the mix:
- There is always black dog hair all over everything in our house. Just count on it. I can vacuum and within minutes, there's more black hair all over the carpet.
- We have to be much more strategic about placing open beverages on the coffee table. Luke's tail will knock them over in a flash.
- Big Dogs snore. Or at least ours does. He can give Don a run for his money on any day of the week.
- Whenever I re-fill the water container in the kitchen, Luke will immediately drink almost the entire thing, and then slobber half of that onto the floor. It is disgusting.
All that being said -
- There is nothing like sitting at the table looking out the window watching a boy with his dog. Recently Austin has become much more interested in playing with Luke outside. I hear him talking with him, see him chasing him, being chased by him. Earlier this week, Austin convinced me to come outside to play freeze tag. Everytime he tagged me, Luke was allowed to un-freeze me.
We are happy that Luke is a part of our family!
