Back in September we took a day trip to Apple Hill in CA. We have been wanting to go for the past couple of years. It was a fun day to spend as a family, but I don't think we'll make this a yearly ritual. It was a 3 hour drive, so we spent more time in the car than we did at Apple Hill. It was a beautiful drive though. We hadn't driven into CA via 50 before. I loved that we drove right by Lake Tahoe. It was a beautiful day.

The first thing we saw when we got there was a Wolf Rescue that had a couple of wolves in a cage. Austin called them "woofs."
Next we enjoyed a picnic lunch by the fishing pond. (Like I said - 3 hour drive - we were ready for lunch as soon as we got there!)

Next on the agenda were the free paddle boat rides. I thought this would be a popular attraction, but we were the only people at this farm. The pond that we were in looked like a swamp.

It was kids day at this particular farm.

One of the petting zoos. I'm not sure it qualifies as a petting zoo though. My idea of a petting zoo is when you can go in with the animals and actually pet them. We were able to reach a couple of the animals through the wire fence.

I loved this goose. He was funny.

Playing on an old tractor. On this farm, they had a small hay maze. The hay bales were only about 3 or 4 feet high and the maze was very small. Austin announced to the other kids there that "In Nevada at the Bishop's house, is a really BIG hay maze."

Our view of Lake Tahoe on the drive home. I wasn't able to get any good pictures when we were driving alongside the Lake.
