Labor Day Weekend

We decided to take a very spur of the moment trip to the Bay Area for Labor Day weekend. After all, I only get something like 7 days off the entire school year. No Christmas break or Spring Break or anything like that. So after school on Friday we jumped in the car and headed West. It was a FAB-U-LOUS trip. The weather was absolutely GORGEOUS. When we went down to Hayward on Sunday afternoon, it was a perfect 70 degrees. We drove up the hill and it was so clear - one of those perfect days where you can see all of San Francisco. My only regret is that my favorite Chinese restaurant was closed. When one drives almost 300 miles for good Chinese food, one expects the place to not be closed for Labor Day Weekend.

We went to church in Martinez on Sunday and it was like going home and made us very homesick. Thank you Martinez for making us feel like we have never left!

Austin enjoyed reading to Grandma Dees from his school books. He is very excited to be reading.

He enjoyed playing with Grandpa Hawkins, who he hadn't seen since last Thanksgiving.
Thank you Grandma Hawkins for fixing my bridesmaid dress for the wedding next month!
And Austin convinced Grandpa Hawkins to let him borrow the Super Mario game, which he did not want to let go of on the way home, despite how tired he was.
